RCPD JANSEVA FOUNDATION – SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTER INAUGURATION

Rotary Club of Poona Downtown along with Janaseva Foundation, Pune proudly inaugurated its RCPD Janaseva Skill Development Center on 22nd May 2025. The centre is named after late Rtn S.P Malhotra. Coincidentally, 22nd may happened to be Late S.P. Malhotra’s 92nd Birth anniversary.

This center is a significant step towards empowering youth and women through vocational training and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The center was inaugurated at the hands of Hon. Uday Samant, Industry Minister of Maharashtra, in a gracious ceremony attended by donors, dignitaries, community members, and partnering organizations.

The Skill Development Center has been established at Janaseva Foundation’s Bhilarewadi, Katrej establishment with generous financial support from the Rotary Club of Poona Downtwon in partnership with Rotary Club of Pakenham, Australia, and Rotary International whose donation made the setup of this center possible through a Global Grant.This is the resultant of  Rotary Club of Poona Downtown's relentless efforts and support. The facility is now fully functional, with all required installations and equipment in place.

A variety of vocational courses are being introduced to address diverse employment needs, including:

             Carpentry

             Agriculture

             Electrical

             Fabrication

             Beauty & Wellness

             Tailoring and Fashion Designing/Embroidery

             Catering & Baking

             Computer Literacy

The center takes a gender-sensitive approach:

Courses like Tailoring, Beauty & Wellness, and Baking are especially dedicated to women. Girls are encouraged to even take up male dominated courses like Carpentry etc.

Other courses also are open to both men and women, promoting gender inclusive development.

 Proud to share that the courses have commenced successfully and are being actively attended and appreciated by the students.

They have  already enrolled:

29 boys and girls in Agriculture, Electrical, and Carpentry.

54 women in Tailoring and Embroidery.They have tied up with Lend A Hand India, who are supporting the initiative by providing:

Technical knowledge and training modules,

Well-structured curriculum, Guidance in setting up practical laboratories

With this collaborative effort, the Global Grant aims to equip individuals with employable skills, enhance self-reliance, and promote economic growth at the grassroots level. This Skill Development Center marks a major milestone in RCP Downtown and Janaseva Foundation’s mission of inclusive and sustainable community development.
