Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade Back
INAGURATION BY FARMERS OF SHIRDE VILLAGE.
Rotary Foundation board chair Barry Rassin quoted—“We are looking with Indian farmers on a five year program to plant the seeds for sustainable farming in India for generations to come”
This statement motivated Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade club members to do constructive work in Indian Agriculture—a step towards “Sustainable Agriculture”.
Rotary club of Talegaon Dabahde has adopted a small village—Shirde in Taluka Maval, Dist Pune Maharastra as Happy Village since last 4 years. This is a tribal village. They cultivate only one crop –Paddy every year. This village is touching a large water body , RC Talegaon Dabhade is going to install an irrigation scheme this year, which will bring their lands under irrigation and will motivate them to cultivate second and third crop in their own fields, which will strengthen the socio-economical condition of the village. This will also stop the migration of young villagers flocking towards urban areas for small—petty jobs.
To encourage them and to bring them in mainstream sustainable agriculture we took them to the country’s on of the large agriculture exhibition “KISAN” in Pune. When we explained the KISAN organizer Mr.Niranjan Deshpande about the concept he went one step ahead and offered to inaugurate the KISAN agri show by these tribal farmers. 40 farmers participated in the show and they were motivated for the future agribusiness and have geared up to change the entire village economics.
The Club also organized a “Rotary Gallery” to showcase RI 3131 executed projects, which has enhanced our “Public Image” a lot. Dist PI director Mr.Prasad Ganpule took lots of efforts to set up this Gallery. The Gallery was inaugurated by Dist 3131 DG Shital Shah.
RC Gandhibhavan, RC Chinchwad, RC Pune Camp, RC Talegaon Dabhade City , RC Pimpri, RC Sihagad Road, RC Pune West and RC Talegaon MIDC were Co-host for this event.
