Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade and POSCO India Ltd Donate Cancer Thermal Screening Van to TGH OncoLife Cancer Centre
Talegaon Dabhade, 13th April 2025 – In a significant move towards early cancer detection and women’s health, the Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade, in collaboration with CSR partner POSCO India Ltd, has donated a state-of-the-art Cancer Thermal Screening Van worth ₹40 lakhs to the TGH OncoLife Cancer Centre.
This mobile screening unit is set to serve all 164 villages of the Maval Taluka, targeting early detection of breast and cervical cancer among women aged 25 years and above over the course of the next year.
Breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among Indian women, growing at a rate of 5.7%, with cervical cancer following at 1.7%. Recognizing the urgent need for accessible screening solutions—especially in fast-growing areas like Talegaon Dabhade, which is witnessing a rise in migratory populations due to rapid industrial development—this initiative aims to bring life-saving diagnostics to women at their doorsteps, and at nominal costs.
The project came to fruition in record time. With the immediate support of Mr. Pabitra Swain of POSCO India Ltd, the project was conceptualized and executed in less than 45 days, culminating in the official handover of the van to TGH OncoLife Cancer Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, CSR Director of RC Talegaon Dabhade, Mr. Chetan Namjoshi, and Medical Director Rtn. Sachin Deshmukh, expressed their pride in
successfully mobilizing resources and equipping the van with the latest thermal screening technology.
