Rotaract Day Celebration
On 10th of March Rotary Club of Poona celebrated the ‘Rotaract Day’ which falls on March 13 where a group of young Rotaractors from the Rotary Club Of Pune Camp Pioneers promised them an evening of getting acquainted with their flagship activities followed by fun activities.
The current President of the Rotaract club Rotaractor Danish Hussein presented a brief history of the club, their key projects and vision for the future, illustrating his talk with slides. Established in 2020 as an offshoot of the Rotary Club Of Poona Camp, its membership totals 25 young adults between the ages of 19 and 24. With “United for Service” as their motto they won the best club award in their first year and since then have been the recipients of a number of other awards. Rotaractor Ameer addressed us giving a short talk on the establishment and significance of the Rotaract Clubs. She then led them through a Quiz which tested their knowledge of the Rotary movement and next conducted an interesting Dumb Charades session.
The Rotaract session was coordinated by RC Poona 's youngest member Rtn. Hasnain Bahrainwalla who is himself a former Rotaractor and is a prime example of what dividends investing in a Rotaract club can yield.
Gift a Vision
Under the ‘Gift a Vision’ project, Rotary Club of Poona sent two corneal tissues on the 10th of March and two corneal tissues on the 11th of March to Dr. Supriyaji at the Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantonment , Delhi. 1 more corneal tissue was sent to KK Eye Hospital on the 14th of March making it a total of 47 transplants that have been successfully conducted with the help of the Red Cross since July 1st 2023.
Vocational Visit
On 12th March, 21 members of Rotary Club of Poona made a trip to Manchar for a vocational visit to the Gowardhan Dairy & Bhagyalakshmi farms. Gowardhan Dairy is India's 1st fully mechanized dairy, producing cheese, butter, paneer, ghee, curd and a very special milk called the ‘Pride of Cow’.
This farm with Holstein Friesian cows is fully mechanized without any human interference and is in keeping with international standards, producing 80,000 litres of milk per day. All in all, a very different experience but an enjoyable visit, for the members of RC Poona.
Donation of Humidifier
On 19th March, Rotary Club of Poona handed over and Inaugurated a Humidifier in the Paediatric ICU at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The latest technique 3.0 humidifier is portable and specifically designed so as to move along with the young patient whenever he/she moves around the hospital for various diagnostic tests. The machine was gratefully accepted by the hospital staff being the first of its kind installed in the hospital.
