Runathon of Hope - Signature project of Rotary club of Nigdi
Around 3,000 participants took part in the “PCMC Rotary Mirae Asset Mutual Fund Runathon of Hope” organized by the Rotary Club of Nigdi–Pune in association with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The event was inaugurated in the presence of PCMC Assistant Commissioner Anna Bodade, world record–holding marathon runner Ashish Kasodekar, Ironman Vikrant Ghotge, Mirae Asset’s Senior Vice President Suranjana Borthakur, Vice President Makhdoom Ansari, Pune Manager Mayur Dhanopia, actress Elakshi Gupta of Tanhaji fame, Rotary District 3131 Governor Santosh Marathe, District Governor-Elect Nitin Dhamale, Rotary Club of Nigdi President Keshav Manage, Runathon Director Shashank Phadke, Secretary Gurdeep Singh, and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Anna Bodade administered the cleanliness pledge and said that the municipal corporation constantly strives to maintain the city’s health. “Through the Runathon, Rotary contributes to keeping citizens physically fit. Keeping our city clean and beautiful is everyone’s responsibility. We must work together to make the city greener and more beautiful,” he said. Rotary Club President Keshav Manage said, “This is the 14th year of the Runathon. The funds raised through the event are used by the Rotary Club of Nigdi for social projects related to education, health, environment, and women empowerment.”
Runathon Director Shashank Phadke added, “This year, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund has joined us as the title sponsor. With their support, Rotary and the corporate sector can work together to create lasting social change.” He also thanked all other sponsors for their support.
As part of the Runathon, Rotary Club of Nigdi had organized a “Runathon Expo” showcasing products by more than 40 women entrepreneurs on Friday and Saturday, along with a musical evening Swaratarang for citizens. The marathon began at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, with men’s and women’s categories in three distances — half marathon (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km.
Sawali Project :Donation to Sawli old age home.
Sawli Old age home in PCMC area resides more that 75 aged people who have either been abandoned or have serious medical issues and have nowhere to go. Rotary Club of Nigdi has launched an ongoing project in which our club will donate 1,20,000 per month which will cover their monthly Food expenses. On 17th September our club donated the first cheque of Rs. 1,20,000 to Sawli Old Age Home. A big thanks to our major Donor Mr. Rajesh Ranawat and all our Rotarians for Supporting this very heart touching Project.
Together we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of these seniors.
पुणे मेट्रो आणि रोटरीचा संयुक्त उपक्रम – ‘रोटरी ग्रीन वीक’चा भव्य शुभारंभ
दर आठवड्याला पर्यावरणपूरक कृतीसाठी एक छोटं पण प्रभावी पाऊल
पुणे, ११ जुलै २०२५: रोटरी इंटरनॅशनल डिस्ट्रिक्ट ३१३१ आणि पुणे मेट्रो (महा मेट्रो) यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने राबवण्यात येणाऱ्या ‘रोटरी ग्रीन वीक’ या वर्षभर चालणाऱ्या पर्यावरणीय उपक्रमाचा शानदार शुभारंभ आज जिल्हा न्यायालय मेट्रो स्थानकात पार पडला. कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन आणि प्रायोजकत्व रोटरी क्लब ऑफ निगडी यांनी केले होते. या उपक्रमाचे प्रमुख पाहुणे महा मेट्रोचे व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक श्री. श्रावण Hardikar होते.

याशिवाय, रोटरी क्लब ऑफ निगडीचे अध्यक्ष-नामित रोटेरियन शशांक फडके देखील कार्यक्रमाला उपस्थित होते. कार्यक्रमाला प्रत्यक्ष उपस्थित राहू न शकल्यामुळे, पण २०२५–२६ पर्यावरणीय उपक्रमांच्या संकल्पनेत मोलाचे योगदान दिल्याबद्दल रोटेरियन राजेंद्रकुमार सराफ यांचा विशेष उल्लेख करण्यात आला. मराठी चित्रपट व रंगभूमी क्षेत्रातील प्रसिद्ध सूत्रसंचालिका शोभा कुलकर्णी यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे सुबोध व सर्जनशील सूत्रसंचालन केले.
रोटेरियन ध्रुव फडके यांनी Rotary Green Week या उपक्रमाची सविस्तर माहिती दिली. त्यांनी सांगितले की, हा उपक्रम ५२ आठवड्यांचा असून दर आठवड्याला एक सोपी, पण प्रभावी पर्यावरणपूरक कृती राबवण्याचे उद्दिष्ट आहे. उदाहरणार्थ – स्वतःची पाण्याची बाटली वापरणे, अन्न पुन्हा गरम करणे टाळणे, मेट्रोसारखी सार्वजनिक वाहतूक वापरणे इत्यादी. हा उपक्रम रोटरी आणि महा मेट्रो यांच्यातील सहकार्याचे मूर्त स्वरूप आहे. श्री. श्रावण Hardikar यांनी आपल्या भाषणात म्हटले, “परिवर्तनाची सुरुवात स्वतःपासून झाली पाहिजे. प्रत्येकजण पर्यावरणासाठी काहीतरी करण्याची जबाबदारी स्वीकारली, तरच खरे परिवर्तन शक्य आहे.”
प्रांतपाल रोटेरियन संतोष मराठे यांनी यावर्षीच्या रोटरीच्या कामकाजात पर्यावरण हा केंद्रस्थानी असलेला विषय असल्याचे नमूद केले. १० हून अधिक पर्यावरण संबंधित उपक्रम सध्या सुरु असून, Rotary Green Week हा त्यामधील एक महत्त्वपूर्ण आणि लोकसहभाग वाढवणारा उपक्रम आहे. या उपक्रमाच्या माध्यमातून केवळ रोटरी सदस्य नाही, तर संपूर्ण पुणेकर जनतेने पर्यावरणपूरक जीवनशैली स्वीकारावी, असा सकारात्मक संदेश या कार्यक्रमातून देण्यात आला.
