Interact Club Industrial Visit – 28.02.26
 
The students of the Interact Club of Adarsh School visited the facility of M/s Sling Flexi Cartons on 28.02.2026 as a part of the development program for the Interact students undertaken by RC Talegaon Dabhade under the leadership of President Shrishail and Youth Director Kirti. A total of 27 Interactors and 7 Rotarians and Ann’s participated in the site visit. M/s Sling Flexi Cartons is a 60+ years old industry run by the third generation CEO Rtn Vedang Mahajan and Ann Mrunmai Mahajan. Rtn Vedang & Ann Mrunmai interacted with the students and provided them with insight about the various aspects of the packaging Industry.

  • Primary Products: Corrugated boxes, printed duplex cartons, E-flute cartons, and display cartons
  • Key Personnel: Mr Vedang Mahajan (CEO) 
1. Objectives of the Visit
  • To understand the large-scale manufacturing process of corrugated and folding cartons.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical concepts (packaging, supply chain) and practical industrial applications.
  • To observe quality control measures and safety standards in a manufacturing environment. 
2. Manufacturing Process Observed
During the tour, students typically observe several key stages of production: 
  • Raw Material Handling: Inspection of Kraft paper rolls and various board grades used for carton strength.
  • Printing & Design: Application of printing on duplex cartons (multi-colour offset or flexographic printing).
  • Corrugation & Lamination: The process of creating 3-ply or 5-ply corrugated sheets for heavy-duty boxes.
  • Die-Cutting & Folding: Precise cutting of box shapes using die-cut machines followed by folding into "Straight Tuck End" or other styles.
  • Quality Assurance: Testing for weight-holding capacity and durability of the finished packaging. 
  1. Key Insights & Learning Outcomes
  • Technical Knowledge: Gained exposure to the mechanical processes of high-speed carton manufacturing.
  • Sustainability: Observed how the industry manages waste through the recycling of paper off-cuts.
  • Industry Scale: Learned that the facility handles substantial operations, with annual revenues reaching approximately ₹28Cr as of March 2025. 
  1. Conclusion: The visit provided a comprehensive view of the packaging life cycle, from raw material to finished product. Students left with a better understanding of the professional environment and the technical precision required in industrial.
