DG Santosh Marathe thoughts Back

Dear Friends,

September was enjoyably a hectic month. We had our Zonal Meets on Basic Education & Literacy and Club Admin at Panvel for Zone 1 followed by that of Zones 3,4,5,6 at Cummins College of Engineering, Pune. Both were well attended. The sessions were interactive and both BEL and Club Admin Teams conducted them very well. Thanks to both the Teams. Special thanks to The District Secretaries for Meets for coordinating with Host and Co Hosts and organising the Meets.

We also had Zonal Interact Assemblies at Khopoli, St Vincents College campus and Rosary School campus. Each was attended by around 200 interactors. These too were interactive and the Interactors took active part in the sessions. Well done Youth Team led by Director Tina Rattra and Interact Chair Smita Vikhankar.

Our Foundation Team comprising of TRF promotion, Polio, EMGA and CSR conducted very interesting sessions at all the 6 zonal meets conducted over 2 weekends. Led by DRFC Pankaj Shah and Directors Rajesh Raut, Sunil Hingmire, Kailash Monga who were accompanied by Zonal Chairs conducted very interesting sessions. I was present at each of these meets.

And what can I say about our most enjoyable experiences at our Cultural and Fellowship activities!!

On September 4th at the Pune Ganesh Festival, we had a melodious evening presented by our Rotarians in the program ‘Indradhanu’ at Bal Gandharva.  Well done Cultural Team, lead by Director Snehal Bhat and her ever enthusiastic team.

This event was followed by an amazing experience that over 230 Rotarians, Spouses and their friends had at our very first ‘Galloping Thunderbolts’ Derby organised by the Fellowship Team on September 7 at Pune Race Course. A million thanks to District Director Manoj Bhate and his energetic Team.

I visited 6 Clubs for the OCVs. Good to know that all of them are doing quite well.

A big compliment to RC Pimple Saudagar Club for organising the Yonex-Sunrise District Super 100 Ranking Badminton Tournament from 13-17 September at ACE Arena complex. Sincerely appreciate the efforts of Rtn Niranjan Mantri and his family with support of his Club Members. Friends, this was a big budget prestigious event handled by Rtn Niranjan and team through their own resources. Appreciate the support from Dist. Co-Director of Sports PP Rtn Nitin Joshi.

We have sent our application for forming a new Rotary Club. RCP Wisdom is the sponsor Club and PP Hemant Puranik is the New Club Advisor (GSR).

First DRM was organised on September 28 where Directors presented their reports of all the activities undertaken by them from May 1, 2025 till 28th September.

The notification for election of our District’s Representative for the 2028 COL has been issued and the election is scheduled on December 7, 2025 in a District Legislative Meeting.

October is designated for Community Economic Development. I would urge all clubs to plan out their programs to align with this avenue. Reach out to Avenue Director PP Santosh Pardeshi and to District Director Happy Village, PP Avinash Kohinkar to get further information on activities and projects they can take up in their respective clubs. You may invite them or their Team members to address your Club in a weekly meeting.

I would request all those Presidents in whose club the OCV is scheduled in October and November to Schedule AG visit and be ready by fulfilling all Compliance and Admin requirements.

Do plan events on October 24 which is World Polio Day and contribute for the noble cause through TRF. Reach out to Dist. Director for Polio, PP Sunil Hingmire, to plan activities.

Our Foundation Seminar is on November 28, 2025 and I would appeal to all of you to promote TRF Giving in your Club and keep our District’s Flag flying high in Annual and Endowment giving.

I take this opportunity to wish you all and your Families a very Happy Diwali and a Prosperous New Year with loads of achievements and Happiness!!

Yours,
DG Santosh Marathe
