ASHA KIRAN

Project ASHA Kiran was undertaken by Rotary Club of Pune Shivajinagar in the month of January 2026.
The project aims to empower ASHA workers by giving them a digital BP monitor and Pulse oximeter.
The reasons  given are-1) there are no resident doctors in most villages and blood pressure and oxygen level are the basic readings required. In case of any emergency in the village ASHA workers are able to take these readings and send the patient to a nearby hospital.
2) Many pregnant women in rural areas  don't take antenatal care visits and remain undetected for risk of high blood pressure during pregnancy.  ASHA workers can be of great help if provided with a digital BP monitor.
3) Recent research indicates that the prevalence of  hypertension is on the rise in young rural adults even in the absence of obesity, and is a health issue of great concern. ASHA workers can do surveillance and help for early detection and treatment.
We plan to give 100 ASHA workers from Mulshi Taluka, these units and on 31st January we gave 40 ASHA workers from Mutha PHC.
