Environment Awareness by rotary club of Lonawala

Environment is Rotary’s area of focus & Rotary Club of Lonavala did in August a very unique project for the Ganpati immersion. Normally the Plaster of Paris Ganpati idols are immersed in the River, Lake, Sea or any other places and we see broken idols in those places after sometime, due to the non-dissolving quality of POP. Rotary club of Lonavala created an artificial pond in which we added Ammonium bicarbonate, which has been invented by scientists from Pune & tested. This water of the pond helps dissolve the POP idols within two or three days. This project was not only environment friendly but also helped to keep the city clean.
