WATER: RID 3131and Rotary Club of Khadki help bring Water Back to Life.
A Vision of RID 3131, conceived designed and driven by the Rotary Club of Khadki.
Across Rural Pune, Community Borewells have fallen silent – leaving families, often women and children to walk long distances to get water. Our district had long held this vision of changing this. It took the Rotary Club of Khadki to turn that vision into a Project.
This Rotary year, with our own Trust Funds we did 50 Borewell Recharging and repair work,
We joined hands with RC NIBM and 30 other clubs to do another 50 Borewells in Synergy.
Behind all this initiative were, PP Mukesh Agarwal, PP Mahesh Makhija, PP Vineet Mathur and PP Raja Mahbubani. They envisaged that the way forward was with GLOBAL GRANTS. They applied for a Grant and cleared RI’s rigorous scrutiny and the Funds were received in 3 months!
On 3rd May, 2026, RCK,RID 3131 launched Mission Jal Punarjeevan, with Rotary club of Khadki, at Pirangut Grampanchayat, in the presence of DG. Santosh Marathe, PDG Manjoo Phadke, Govt. officials and President of our foreign partner club, Rtn. Mark Seidel,of RC Muhlacker – Enzkreis (RID 1830, Germany) . Many thanks to our President Raj Tejwaney and the team of 4 Past Presidents, who got the 42,000 US $ GG and took the project forward. Today, with great pleasure I can say that RC Khadki, has implemented the first Phase, of 200 Borewells, across 4 talukas, within our district vision of 1000 Borewells to be Recharged.
This is the start of a journey in which every club in RID 3131 can participate. Our team is now the District team for Jalpunarjeevan, for the year 2026-27. The water is waiting and so are the Villagers.
Thank you,
Always in Rotary, IPP Seema Bedekar.
