On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Rotary Club of Pune Deccan Gymkhana undertook a meaningful initiative aimed at empowering young girls through education and technology.

Understanding the growing importance of digital access in today’s academic environment, the club donated laptops to 24 girl students pursuing computer education from rural areas. These laptops were generously made available by Tech Mahindra, whose support played a crucial role in making this initiative possible. For many of these students, owning a laptop was not just a convenience—it was a distant dream. This initiative has now brought them one step closer to achieving their aspirations.

What made the project even more special was the personal interaction. The students travelled to Pune to receive the laptops, and the joy and gratitude on their faces were truly heartwarming. It was not merely a distribution—it was a moment of encouragement, recognition, and hope.

The impact of this initiative extended beyond the students. Principals of the respective colleges and parents, most of whom belong to lower-income groups, expressed their deep appreciation. For families striving to support their daughters’ education with limited resources, this support came as a significant relief and a source of motivation.

This project stands as a strong example of collaboration and synergy within Rotary. It was successfully carried out with the support of the Rotary Club of Baramati, Rotary Club of Raigad Fort, Rotary Club of Roha, and Rotary Club of Roha Central. Together, the clubs demonstrated how collective efforts can create a meaningful and lasting impact.

By enabling these young girls with the tools they need, Rotary is not just supporting education—it is empowering confidence, independence, and a brighter future.
