Construction of Toilets, Bathrooms, and Washbasins at Shikshan Gram, Malavali
On 27th March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune completed the construction of essential sanitation facilities at Shikshan Gram, Malavali, under Rotary International's WASH initiative. The project was supported by Saakshi Medictech Panels Ltd., which included 5 toilets, 5 bathrooms, and 6 washbasins, benefiting 145 children (72 boys and 73 girls). The total cost of Rs. 3,61,128 improved hygiene standards, health, and well-being, promoting better sanitation and reducing health risks associated with inadequate facilities. This project aligns with Rotary’s commitment to enhancing sanitation in underserved communities.
Support to "The Green Thread" Initiative for Sustainable Education
On 18th March 2025, Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune supported "The Green Thread," a sustainable education initiative led by students Radha Belsare and Swara Daware. The project promotes eco-friendly educational aids and empowers marginalised women through employment. Eco-vidya, a 3D cloth chart made from old clothes, was created to aid primary-grade teachers. The initiative, selected for OLL's Skill Titans Season 2, will compete in Mumbai’s Grand Finale in April 2025. Rotary’s mentorship helps integrate sustainability into education while providing employment and promoting community development.
Adult Literacy Programme
On 23rd March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune completed an Adult Literacy program in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Ramkrishna More College. This one-month program aimed to teach adults basic Marathi and English writing skills. Sixteen undergraduate students taught 11 adults, enhancing their literacy and communication skills. The project aligns with Rotary’s focus on Basic Education and Literacy, empowering adults with essential skills for better personal and professional opportunities. The program also provided students with valuable teaching experience and community service involvement.
Donation of Water Purifier System to Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital
On 21st March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune donated a water purifier system to Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital, valued at Rs. 80,000. Sponsored by Rtn Parag Shah and led by President Rtn Harsha Joshi, the project addressed the hospital's need for visitors to have clean drinking water. Installing the purifier will benefit hundreds of visitors daily, improving their experience while reducing waterborne disease risks. This initiative aligns with Rotary's water and sanitation goals, improving public health and supporting the local community’s well-being.
Apala Pune Cyclathon
On 16th March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune co-hosted the Apala Pune Cyclathon with the District 3131 DEI Avenue Project. The theme "Cyclathon for Paraplegic Persons", aimed to raise awareness and funds for individuals with paraplegia. The event saw Rotary members and community participation, fostering solidarity for the cause. Funds raised supported paraplegic individuals, providing them with necessary resources. This initiative exemplified Rotary’s commitment to social causes, promoting inclusion and demonstrating community service through physical activity and fundraising.
Seed Ball Creation and Gift Packing Initiative by Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune
On 28th March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune launched an environmental project on seed ball creation and distribution. The youth made eco-friendly seed balls for reforestation in collaboration with Rotary Community Corps (RCC) and the Interact Club of DIC’s English Medium School. The project aimed to raise environmental awareness and educate students on sustainability. Seed balls were packed and distributed, promoting ecological conservation. This hands-on initiative strengthened community bonds and encouraged environmental responsibility among youth, impacting local reforestation efforts.
"Search for Myself" Essay Competition and Interactive Session
On 8th March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune organised an Essay Competition titled "Search for Myself" at DIC English Medium School. The event, led by Director Rtn Sangeeta Ranade, included an interactive session on reinventing feminism and addressing women’s mental health. Sixty-four participants attended the session, engaging in thoughtful discussions on self-discovery. Winners of the competition were awarded prizes, and the event helped raise awareness about women’s empowerment. It successfully promoted peace building and conflict resolution while empowering participants through personal reflection and creative expression.
Renovation of the Pradeept Bharat Girls' Hostel Building
On 29th March 2025, the Rotary Club of Chinchwad-Pune completed the renovation of the Pradeept Bharat Girls' Hostel Building. The initiative involved repairing window weather seals, installing granite window frames, and replacing old windows with new aluminum sliding windows. President Rtn Harsha Joshi and other Rotary members led the renovation to improve living conditions for the girls residing there. The project aligns with Rotary’s Economic and Community Development focus, providing a safer, more comfortable environment for the girls, supporting their education, and enhancing their well-being.
