1) Vocational Service Director: PP C.D. Mahajan
Journalist Award
PP Uday Chipalkatti established a journalist award in memory of his late father, Shri
Muralidhar Chipalkatti. This is the inaugural year of the award, which was presented
to Shri Sachin Kapse, a journalist from Lokmat, on August 25, 2025. The ceremony
was conducted in collaboration with RCP Kothrud and RCP Phoenix.
2) Community Service – Medical Committee Report
Director: PP Dr Smita Jog
The Medical Committee embarked on its first major project of the Rotary year by
donating phototherapy units to strengthen neonatal care services. This initiative was
implemented as a Synergy Project in collaboration with the District Committee of
Maternal and Child Health, under the leadership of Rtn.PP Dr Shobha Rao, Director,
Maternal and Child Health. Our club had the honour of serving as the host club for this
important programme.
A total of 19 Rotary clubs participated in the project, and thirty-two phototherapy units
were distributed to Primary Health Centres and two Corporation Hospitals in Pune.
These units will significantly support the treatment of neonatal jaundice and improve
outcomes for newborns in government healthcare facilities. Our club contributed six
phototherapy units, which were generously sponsored by Sarth Wealth Private
Limited. The directors of the company include our club member, Rtn. Sachin Joglekar
and Mr Arvind Paranjape. The club places on record its sincere appreciation and
gratitude for their valuable contribution.
The formal handover ceremony was held on 29th November at Damle Hall. District
Governor Rtn Santosh Marathe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Medical
officers from the beneficiary Primary Health Centres were present, along with
Presidents and representatives of most participating clubs.
3) A New Wing Takes Flight: Rotary Club of Pune Airwings Chartered
A charter was formally presented on 25-01-2026 to the Rotary Club of Pune Airwings by
Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo and District Governor Santosh
Marathe. The new club has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pune Shivajinagar.
The successful formation of the club was made possible through the dedicated efforts of New
Club Advisor Sham Arjunwadkar, District Secretary-Director Ujjwal Marathe, and
President-elect Prakash Gaikwad, all distinguished members of the Rotary Club of Pune
Shivajinagar.
The inaugural meeting was presided over by Charter President Jyoti Sawardekar. The
Rotary Club of Pune Airwings begins its journey with 32 charter members, with an average
age of 43 years, representing the areas of Dhanori, Vishrantwadi, and Lohegaon.
