'Rotary' a journey with opportunities !
I was introduced to Rotary by my dear friends Kshama & Ajit Gangoli during year 2007 & i joined Rcp University as a member. Back then our Club was more of a group of senior or retired Gov.officers combined with few members from corporate & business back ground. Around same time i had committed my time for Institute of Indian Interior Designers - pune chapter as a committee member. Hence i requested my Club to not give me key office bearers role for next few years for balancing the Professional practice and giving back to profession.
But during the journey with Rotary i am grateful that i could contribute my bit of service to the community and equally enjoying making some fabulous friends and meeting finest human beings. Some of the imp.projects on which i could volunteer and work were - Global grant project Jagruti Blind girl's school at Alandi, i was responsible for designing the interior spaces suitable for the Girl students of the well Designed architectural complex. It was a project worth $ 90000 majorly supported by P. N. Gadgil family. During 2017-18 our founding Club member Rtn. Abhay Gadgil became District Governor and led by his vision our Club hosted A very unique District Conference which was for three days ( away from the usual 2 days format ) with post noon sessions and evening networking and fellowships. The conference received largest registration crossing 2000 delegates a record till today. It was a big joy and resposibility for me to Design master plan of entire 3 day conference with welcome zone, networking areas and unique folk cultural performances during pre session hi tea, open amphitheater, evening entertainment zone which had Indian Ocean, RD Burman's instrumental Band performing, dinner areas with comfy seating and space for parallel sessions and meets.
This conference was also a great example of Team work with each member pitching in to give their 100% to achieve collective success. I must mention entire Branding Design created by Rtn. Manoj Phulambrikar made it very unique with identity and playfulness at its best.
Guest speakers were top of the line and it was a huge treat to witness, interact with them.
In year 2022-23 i was Club Secretary with Rtn. Atul Galande as our President and The Global grant project supported and led by Rtn.Atul required water conservation, de silting, capacity enhancement, building and strengthening of check dams along with drinking water ATM's was his commitment to the Vinzar village and the project was completed well before monsoon and it changed life of Vinzar and surrounding villagers forever with multiplication of beneficiary families.
As time passed.....during 2023-24 I was given the privilege to head our Club as The President and as every President gets some liberty to do projects of one's liking and i could re-launch 'My City My Promise' a campaign for behavioral change, A project of my dream, Basic idea which was revealed from platform of IIID & Association of Designers of India when i was Chairperson of IIID Pune Chapter during 2017. My team, club members & DG Mannjoo Phadke supported the thought and we have been successful in propogation of the crux of it through various modes of communication and big support coming in from PMC, Dainik Bhaskar and many large forums. Project moved ahead as district project during 24-25 and 25-26 with Dist. Governor's Shital Shah and Santosh Marathe supporting it.
I am super excited to share that Rotary My City My Promise will be Independant District avenue project during 26-27 and i am thankful to incoming DG Nitin Dhamale for the opportunity and now our nominated Dist. team is busy creating project strategy ahead for the year.
All of above was made possible only with full support from my wife Sunita and our daughter Isha.
