Sub-National Pulse Polio Vaccination and Celebration of World Pulse Polio Day.
As 12th October 2025 was declared as Sub National Pulse Polio Vaccination Day for Pune and Thane District by Government of Maharashtra, District Polio Team appealed all the Presidents in the area to give support and help to the Government team.
Almost all the Rotary clubs in the area came forward to give their support the Polio Vaccination Workers.
Rotary Club of Pune Pristine distributed about 11000 pamphlets in Kothrud, Erandavane and Karvenagar area through newspapers to make the people aware of vaccination of their children. They also put banners at 3-4 places and shared the information on 20-25 housing society and school parents’ groups. On Vaccination Day on the booth operated by them they vaccinated about 250 children DG Santosh and First Lady Tanuja along with District Polio Director Sunil visited their Booth.
Rotary Pune Sports City, along with its Rotaract Club of DY Patil Business School Rotaractors participated the Pulse Polio drive in Pune. They provided coverage for 20 polio booths in local suburbs, giving over 3500 children under the age of 5 years, 2 drops of polio vaccine, supporting the Pune Municipal Corporation Pulse Polio Drive. The club provided over 100 lunch packets for the polio booths volunteers, besides transportation support.
Rotary Club Poona Midtown also participated in supporting the Polio Vaccination and Anganwadi workers by providing Food packets and helping them in vaccination. In their area around 1575 children were vaccinated.
Under the Leadership of AG Vishwanath Lele and five rotary clubs around 600 children were vaccinated. They provided food packets and to about 250 polio vaccination workers.
Total Children Vaccinated in Pune Municipal Corporation area on 12th October were 2, 62, 088 (84%).
After Vaccination Day workers went house to house to vaccinate the children and they vaccinated 3, 15, 984 (101%) children.

Rotary Pune Sports City celebrated World Polio Day (Rotary District 3131) with its annual Polio Hoarding on busy Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. This large hoarding (30ft by 40 ft) highlights the role of Rotary in polio eradication all over the world and keeping India polio-free since 27 March 2014. Over 90,000 vehicles pass this billboard on Senapati Bapat Road daily, providing almost one million public views over 10 days.
This billboard also encourages viewers to support routine immunisation to keep India polio-free and donate towards polio eradication efforts the world over.
Rotary Pune Sports City also held a Polio Awareness Bike Rally through the crowded slums of Pune City on 24th October 2025, to inform everyone that the war against polio is not yet over. Rotarians on two-wheelers drove 12 km through the busy streets and ended the rally at the Polio hoarding on Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. Limited turnout this time due to the festive Diwali holidays for both Rotarians and Rotaractors.
Rotarians in District 3131 will not stop here, they will contribute and work continuously to end polio from this world.
