ROTARY INDIA CSR PROJECT TRANSFORMS RURAL SCHOOL IN RAVADI, MAHARASHTRA
Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke SmrutiVidyalaya in Ravadi underwent a major transformation from an active rural school to a modern school with dramatic improvements in their infrastructure facilities - academic, extracurricular and sports. This school started in 1983 and named after one of India’s revolutionary freedom fighters. This Marathi medium school caters to 215 local students from nearby farming villages, providing education from 5th to 12th standards.This project was possible due to the generous CSR grant from Momentive Performance Materials (India) Pvt Ltd, a chemical multinational company based out of Bengaluru.Rotary BhorRajgad was a local participating partner.
This impactful project included 8 E-Learning Systems, Scholarship Examinations Preparation Software, LG 65” Interactive Panel on the academic side, with training for all the teaching staff. On the infrastructure and facilities side, this project included chain-link compound fencing all around the school with 2 gates, a raised levelled large sports ground for athletics (track & field events), volleyball, badminton, tennikoit, kabaddi, kho-kho courts and jumping pits. Indoor sports included table tennis, carrom, chess and skipping. Both girls and boys are encouraged to participate as this school has a rich tradition in sports at the taluka level and want to compete at the district level.An off grid 3kW backup solar system was installedwith repairs to the toilets and all electrical fittings
Primary funding support from Momentive Performance Materials (India) Pvt Ltd,with support from Rotary District 3131 and Rotary Clubs of Pune Sports City and Bhor, has culminated in an impactful school transformation project. Thanks also to the school staff and vendors who made this project a reality.
