RC Pune Cantonment: Advancing Student Health With Compassion and Commitment
Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment (RCPC) continued its strong focus on youth health and well-being through four impactful initiatives conducted across Pune’s schools. Together, these projects touched more than 18,000 students, reflecting Rotary’s unwavering commitment to preventive healthcare, dignity, and equal opportunity for every child.
The Type 1 Diabetes Awareness and Testing Project screened 10,561 students across 18 schools over the course of one year. Eighteen children were identified with high sugar levels and guided toward further medical evaluation. The project not only created awareness but also opened a pathway for long-term care for vulnerable students—an act of quiet, life-changing intervention.
Complementing this, RCPC conducted non-invasive haemoglobin screening for 2,665 students, followed by iron supplement distribution. Early detection of anaemia ensures healthier childhoods, better learning outcomes, and stronger futures—especially for children who often suffer silently from nutritional deficiencies.
The club also organised a Blood Group Testing Program for 1,293 students, equipping schools and families with essential health information crucial during emergencies. This simple yet powerful initiative strengthens community preparedness and safeguards young lives.
Adding a holistic and gender-sensitive dimension, RCPC’s Green Pad Distribution, Health & Yoga Awareness, and Bakery Workshop empowered 300 adolescent girls with knowledge, confidence, and practical skills. The blend of menstrual hygiene awareness and vocational exposure created a nurturing environment for growth and self-belief.
Together, these initiatives embody Rotary’s spirit—service that is practical, compassionate, and deeply human. RCPC’s work this year stands as a testament to what collective goodwill can achieve for the next generation.
