Under District 3131’s Drive on Plastic Waste–Free School/Society, Rotary Club of Pune West Side conducted an interactive awareness session with students of Vanaz Pariwar School on Tuesday, 28 January 2026.
The session involved 150 students from the age group of 11 to 13 years. Rtn. Dr. Gauri Joshi, President, RCP West Side, was actively involved in arranging and coordinating the session and motivated the students by explaining the importance of planning and conscious practices in reducing plastic waste.
Rtn. Rajendra Kumar Saraf, District Director – Environment, actively engaged the children through three thought-provoking questions, encouraging them to reflect on their daily plastic usage and its environmental impact.
The response from the students was exceptionally energetic, insightful, and inspiring. The students collectively pledged to use steel tiffin boxes and water bottles with 100% compliance. The collection of plastic waste is currently in progress, and both students and school authorities have expressed keen interest in extending their efforts by participating in riverbank plastic clean-up activities.
We also express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Anita Darvatkar, Principal, Vanaz Pariwar School, for her proactive involvement and wholehearted support in making this initiative successful.
We request you to kindly accept this activity for publication in GML.
Thanking you.
Warm regards,
RTN. Dr. Gauri Joshi
