Rotary Up-Town Encouraging the Visually Impaired on Independence day:
On 15th of August this year the members of Rotary club of Up-Town decided to celebrate Independence Day with the National Federation of the Blind at Ganesh Krida Mandir. The flag was hoisted by our President Dr R.N. Bharadwaj. The National Anthem was sung followed by various “Bhakti geet” sung beautifully by the blind. Pedas were distributed to all. All the Blind people who have people who have achieved some thing in life shared their experiences which were very inspiring for the younger people. The club donated 100 blue tooth head bands to those who required them for their graduate studies. The recently married young couples where both husband and wife had diminished sight were felicitated and given gifts to give them a start in their lives. What was inspiring to watch was how each visually impaired person helped his friends who were more visually impaired. They walked in chains and did not trip or fall anywhere The program ended with inspiring speeches by our club President Dr Bharadwaj and Secretary Dr Jamkar. The members left with warm memories and promises to help the blind association again.
