Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment-Service Project Back
Anand Mela – A Three Decade Old Tradition of Joy and Service

The Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment proudly celebrated the 31st edition of its
flagship service project, Anand Mela, on 19 December 2025 at Nana Nani Park,
Empress Gardens. What began in the club’s second year (1990–91) as a modest
initiative has now grown into a cherished tradition of compassion, fellowship, and
inclusion.
This year’s Anand Mela brought together nearly 200 children from institutions
dedicated to supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities,
including Navkshitij, Savali Kothrud, Aniket Sevabhavi Sanstha, Manovikas, and
Kamayani School. The day was filled with laughter, music, and celebration, reminding
everyone present of Rotary’s enduring motto: Service Above Self.
The program began with registration and festive Christmas caps, followed by lively DJ
music and spirited dance performances. Each school showcased its talents on stage,
filling the park with energy and pride. Children enjoyed a toy train ride, ice cream
cones, and a hearty breakfast and lunch, while teachers were honored with shawls
in recognition of their tireless dedication. Every child left with a gift kit, a symbol of joy
and care from the Rotary family.
The event was supported by 36 Rotarians and their families, Rotractors, and guests, all
working hand in hand to ensure the day was memorable. More than just a celebration,
Anand Mela continues to be a beacon of inclusivity, offering children a platform to
shine and reminding the community of the power of service.
As the Rotary Club of Pune Cantonment looks ahead, Anand Mela stands as a
testament to what can be achieved when service is infused with love, fellowship, and
joy.
