Poem by Rtn Farida Irani, Rotary Club Of Poona Back
One Journey. One Mission. One Rotary.”

At dawn began a maiden’s rally bright,
Through Saurashtra’s paths in golden light.
Two Rotarian groups drove proud and strong,
With hope in heart and service in song.

“Save water now,” their banners would say,
“Shun plastic bags—choose a wiser way.
Protect each girl, let health enhance her,
Vaccinate against cervical cancer.”

Kilometre by kilometre, side by side,
O’er dusty roads their wheels would glide.
Past granite rocks and marshy land,
Through mustard fields like cloth of sand.

Birds in flight crossed skies so wide,
Wind turbines swayed in patient pride.
Bullock carts creaked, camels strode,
Children waved along the road.

Generous hosts with shining eyes
I welcomed them with a sweet surprise.
Each day a greeting warm and kind,
With local flavors richly twined.

Temple bells at twilight pealed,
Forest plains their calm revealed.
Peacocks danced, monkeys called,
Laughing lakes in sunlight sprawled.

A father’s dolls, a legacy’s call,
A healing dream—a hospital for all.
Evenings brought warm fellowship’s glow,
Shopping streets in the sunset's flow.

A week-long ride for peace and cheer,
For friendship forged year after year.
