A Unique ‘Culture Sculpture’ at Pune Airport – An Emblem of Pune’s Heritage:
Rotary Club of Pune Lokmanyanagar has gifted the city a unique ‘Culture Sculpture’ at Pune Airport, an artistic tribute that celebrates Pune’s glorious heritage and progressive spirit. This landmark initiative, created at a cost of ₹30 lakhs, is graciously sponsored by JSPM University and presented by the Rotary District 3131 Public Image Committee, reflecting a shared vision of honouring Pune’s legacy while embracing its future.
Pune, the nation’s educational capital, is equally renowned for its cultural and spiritual heritage, as well as its role as a dynamic IT hub. The ‘Culture Sculpture’, measuring an impressive 30 ft by 8 ft, captures this multifaceted identity with striking symbolism textbooks and a laptop representing education and technology, while depictions of Vitthal Waari and iconic city landmarks highlight its spiritual and architectural richness.
Strategically placed at Pune Airport, the sculpture has already become a visual attraction and popular selfie point, drawing visitors who carry home memories of Pune’s vibrant character. Widely appreciated by travellers and locals alike, it stands as a cultural emblem, a warm welcome to those arriving and a fond reminder to those departing.
The concept and execution were led by Rtn. Mahesh Ghorpade, Public Image Co-Director 2025, under the leadership of President Rtn. Rishikesh Bagade on behalf of Rotary Club of Pune Lokmanyanagar and Rotary District 3131.
