District 3131 second Largest to Log Million Solar Panels
Rotary’s fight against polio stands as a monumental achievement in global health, channeling and leveraging over $20 billion of Rotary funds. The next challenge is to achieve Million Solar Panels that will avoid in excess of 7.5 million tons of carbon di-oxide (CO2) released into the air and also help in Rotary’s International goal of going ‘net-zero’ by 2040.
Worldwide there are about 1 million Rotarians and following ‘Each Rotarian Each Solar Panel’ thus was launched Million Solar Panels Challenge (MSPC) under the Environment Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG).
Until August 2025 close to 115,000 Solar panels have been logged avoiding 9,17,848 tons of CO2. India tops with 60% contribution. Notably 38 Rotarians from R.I. D. 3131 have logged their Solar panels which is second largest after R.I.D. 5340 (California, USA) with 54 Rotarians. A matter of pride.
Solar energy has become affordable rather than fossil-based electricity and needs to be adopted by harnessing the sunlight.
The Solar panels generate direct current type electricity that can be directly used to charge batteries for use during dark hours or converted to alternating current using an inverter and fed in the existing electricity grid. Today solar energy costs pay back in less than three years.
Let's seize this opportunity to forge a lasting legacy and demonstrate the true power of Rotarians. The time to act is now; and pledge to give clean air to the future generation. Plan a project by seeking financial assistance under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Government subsidies are also applicable through inverters for select segments that make them more attractive to invest.
Appeal to all Rotarians / Rotaractors/ Interactors to contribute to check the climate crisis and help achieve net-zero goals and make our South Asian region proud as the leader in deployment of Solar energy by helping achieve Million Solar Panels. India is already the world's third largest market in Solar energy and has potential to be the leader in MSPC initiative considering the ample sunlight received.
Come log your data of panels you have installed whether on your homes or office or factory or your work place. If your Club has undertaken any Solar Photovoltaic project they also qualify under MSPC..
You will also receive a Certificate of Appreciation from ESRAG for your achievement.

Heartfelt appreciation and warmest Congratulations
Rotary International Director M. Muruganandam (MMM) for his remarkable generosity in committing a one-time contribution of USD 250,000 towards the Paul Harris Home Renovation Project in Chicago.
With this extraordinary gesture, he becomes the *1st Rotarian in the World* to support this project and joins the elite group of just 26 members of the Legacy Society, a distinguished program created for such exceptional contributions.
RID Muruganandam’s selfless commitment is a shining example of service above self and inspires us all. We are immensely proud to see him lead the way and wish him and his family continued blessings.
Congratulations once again, RID MMM, on this prestigious and historic achievement!
